Palm Beach Atlantic University Partners with Institute for Christian Financial Health to Offer Certified Christian Financial Counselor Designation

Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) has partnered with the Institute for Christian Financial Health to offer its students an opportunity to earn the Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CERTCFC®) designation. This certification is designed for those who wish to provide financial counseling or coaching through a biblical worldview.

The peer-to-peer financial coaching program at the Center for Financial Literacy (located in the Rinker School of Business) connects students with trained financial planning peers, offering guidance on critical topics such as budgeting, student loans, credit management, and other essential financial matters. This initiative aims to enhance students' understanding of money management and foster financial responsibility.

Barbara VanderWerf, Assistant Professor of Business and Director of PBA’s Center for Financial Literacy said "We are pleased to work alongside the Institute for Christian Financial Health to provide our students with this unique opportunity. Through this partnership, our students will enhance their financial expertise and gain the skills to counsel others with integrity and faith-driven principles, enabling them to make a meaningful impact at PBA and within their communities."

Dr. Art Rainer, Director of the Institute for Christian Financial Health, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "I am thrilled to partner with such an esteemed university. I look forward to seeing PBAU students deepen their understanding of God's principles for financial stewardship and learn practical ways to serve others in managing their personal finances."

Beginning this semester, select students within the financial coaching program will have the opportunity to enroll in the CERTCFC® program. The certification encompasses competencies such as interpreting biblical principles related to money, understanding clients' needs, data gathering, goal setting, money management, debt reduction, and educating clients on various financial topics. To achieve the CERTCFC® designation, students must successfully pass the certification examination.
